Microsoft has added more than 90 new titles to Xbox Game Pass as part of a controversial update that’s made the service a lot more expensive.
Yesterday, Microsoft announced it would be raising the price of all three Xbox Game Pass subscription tiers and changing the benefits for each one.
Essential is now the cheapest tier of Xbox Game Pass and will cost you £9.99 a month. For that, you get access to a library of more than 50 games that can be played across PC and console. The new Premium tier is £14.99 and includes a library of 200+ games and access to all new Xbox published games within a year of them launching. Ultimate is now £29.99 a month and is the only tier of Xbox Game Pass that will let you play Day One releases.
“Our goal with Game Pass has been clear: deliver unmatched value, benefits, and a deep library of games for our players,” explained a blog post from Microsoft. “We know not everyone wants the same thing in their Xbox experience, so we’re evolving Game Pass to offer more flexibility, choice, and value to all players.”

Following the announcement though, the Microsoft website crashed as fans hurried to cancel their subscriptions and the move has been heavily criticised online. “Oof, I’d rather just buy games on sale than rent them for $30 a month. Microsoft has lost the plot here,” wrote one fan on Reddit.
As part of Microsoft’s new Xbox Game Pass, more than 90 new titles have been added to Ultimate and Premium subscribers, including a number of Assassin’s Creed classics, Hogwarts Legacy and Skull & Bones. Check out the full list of additions below:

Earlier this month, Microsoft confirmed a trio of big Day One releases would also be joining Xbox Game Pass this October with more than 75 planned to join the service over the next 12 months.
In other news, a huge new update for Fallout 76 will introduce Walton Goggins’ The Ghoul to the hit game for the very first time ahead of season two of Fallout hitting Amazon Prime Video.
