Wolf Alice reveal full tracklist for new album ‘The Clearing’

Wolf Alice have shared the full tracklist for their new album ‘The Clearing’. Check it out below, along with a first glance at some of the lyrics.

The forthcoming release will be their fourth album, and is set for release on August 22 via Sony. They announced it after teasing fans of their comeback earlier this year, and it follows on from their debut album ‘My Love Is Cool’, Mercury Prize-winning sophomore release ‘Visions Of A Life’ and 2022’s cinematic ‘Blue Weekend’.

The announcement also saw them drop the ‘70s inspired lead single ‘Bloom Baby Bloom’, and they then played some warm-up shows in Ireland where they teased another track called ‘Thorns’. They would later share album closer ‘The Sofa’ as another single.

Now, the band have shared a newsletter with fans and revealed the full tracklist. ‘Thorns’ and ‘Bloom Baby Bloom’ open the album, and are followed by tracks called ‘Bread Butter Tea Sugar’ and ‘Safe In The World’.

The full tracklist for ‘The Clearing’ is:

‘Thorns’
‘Bloom Baby Bloom’
‘Bread Butter Tea Sugar’
‘Safe In The World’
‘Just Two Girls’
‘Leaning Against The Wall’
‘Midnight Song’
‘White Horses’
‘Passenger Seat’
‘Play It Out’
‘The Sofa’

In the retro-style posters announcing the songs, Wolf Alice also gave a taster of some new lyrics on the way. ‘Thorns’ contains lines reading “The silver would’ve shone had you not twist/ Would the wounds have healed had you not wrote the words down/ Must you deliver the blow, you could have flex the fist.

‘Just Two Girls’ reads: “When did you become so obsessed with all the things you do and do not possess/ Do you think you let this world get a little to your head/ I said you’re so right and you’re so wise”, while ‘Leaning Against The Wall’ has: “It really really made the room sing, the way you said my name/ Like you could not believe I’d be here/ though our friends are all the same”.

NME reviewed Wolf Alice’s comeback track in a five-star review, writing: “After three albums of building and expanding their world, and experiencing the ups and downs of the music industry, it feels like the band are ready to stake their claim as one of their generation’s most important acts. Now, Wolf Alice are undoubtedly in full bloom.”

In June, the band spoke to NME at Glastonbury about how the response to their third album shaped their approach to ‘The Clearing’.

“I think very much. I think we were buoyed by the songier songs being things that people really connected to and we spent a lot more time working on those constituency, songy song parts of the songs,” Joff Oddie said. “It’s the hardest thing in the world to write a really concise song in a – I don’t wanna say pop structure, but you know what I mean. It’s quite easy to throw a five-minute jam together, but that’s so difficult, so it’s a brilliant challenge and that’s more so where we were focused with this album.”

NME gave Wolf Alice’s Glastonbury 2025 performance five stars, writing: “The energy they pour into today’s set feels like that of a band who should be topping the Pyramid Stage next time they play Worthy Farm.

“As the set ends with ‘Don’t Delete The Kisses’ – a strong contender for one of the best, most dizzyingly accurate love songs ever written – that feeling only intensifies. That song finds Rowsell writing herself a romantic Hollywood ending; Wolf Alice’s world-beating set does the same for Glastonbury 2025.”
