Are you hoping to find a Pikachu in Pokemon Legends: Z-A? The most popular Pokemon in the series and Ash Ketchum’s best bud is in the game, and catching one of them is a lot more straightforward than it seems. In fact, you can get one within the first few hours of starting the campaign.

Pikachu Wild Zone 3 location

There were all sorts of ways to get a Pikachu in previous offerings in the Pokemon franchise. Sometimes, you had to go to a far-flung region to wait for a spawn, or, in the case of the classic Pokemon Yellow, you started with one. Then, of course, there’s Legends: Arceus, where one option was to increase your friendship level with a Pichu just so they could evolve into everyone’s favorite electric mouse.

But catching a Pikachu in Pokemon Legends: Z-A is a lot easier. All you need to do is check out Wild Zone 3 in the northern part of Lumiose City.

Catching a Pikachu in Wild Zone 3

Wild Zone 3, similar to other Wild Zones in the game, is a place that multiple Pokemon have made their habitat. The area itself is home to Pikachus, Litleos, Skiddos, Flabebes, and more. As for the Pikachu, there are usually two or more in a quadrant of the garden.

You’re unlikely to catch one while sneaking around, so it’s better to defeat the creature in battle. While it’s dazed, toss a Poke Ball or, better yet, a Great Ball, for a successful capture.

Catching an Alpha Pikachu

It’s certainly possible to acquire an Alpha variant of the Pikachu. Alphas tend to be more aggressive, though they’re also larger than regular spawns. We actually found one in Wild Zone 6. The creature was level 41 and was lounging on the rooftop of the northernmost building.

Pikachu’s evolution and traits

Just like previous titles, the Pikachu species has the following traits:

• Type: Electric
• Evolution: Pichu -> Pikachu -> Raichu (use a Thunder Stone to evolve).
• Notable abilities: Thunder Shock, Nuzzle, Thunder Bolt, Spark.
