The show coincides with the release of their upcoming book, When Gavin Met Stacey and Everything In Between, which is published October 9. A press release said of the live show: “Full of revelations and never-before-heard stories, this is a one-of-a-kind event about a show that’s already gone down in history. Join the duo as they recount the rejection, obstacles and challenges they faced on the way to giving birth to their beloved comedy creation, Ruth and James also explore the flourishing of their own real-life friendship”.

Jones and Corden are the writers and stars of the show, which debuted in 2007 and concluded on Christmas Day last year. The series followed the relationship of Essex-based Gavin (Mathew Horne), who falls for Welsh colleague Stacey (Joanna Page). Corden played Gavin’s best friend Smithy, while Jones played Nessa, Stacey’s closest friend.

The comedy has become beloved by audiences, with the finale becoming the UK’s most-watched scripted show across all broadcasters and streamers since records began in 2002, earning over 19million viewers. It also propelled Corden to international stardom, as he went on to star in Hollywood movies and host his own American late night TV show.

Despite the show’s continuing popularity, Jones has emphasised that the final episode is the last story in the series. “I guarantee we will definitely not be coming back” she revealed in December in the lead up to the Christmas special.
