What to watch this weekend
The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent
Have you ever been curious if all of Nicolas Cage’s movie characters reflect his personality? You can find out in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent — well, sort of. In the film, the actor plays a fictionalized version of himself facing financial ruin and loss of purpose. When he accepts $1 million to attend a superfan’s birthday party, played by Pedro Pascal, he gets caught in a wild CIA operation. Tiffany Haddish, Ike Barinholtz, and Neil Patrick Harris also star.
Throughout the film, Nicolas Cage must channel his iconic characters to save the day. Does he reprise Castor Troy from Face/Off or Benjamin Franklin Gates from National Treasure? You’ll have to watch the movie in theaters to find out.
As the film opened on Friday, April 22nd, audiences took to social media to share their admiration for Nicolas Cage and Pedro Pascal.
The fact that Nicolas Cage can pivot from PIG to THE UNBEARABLE WEIGHT OF MASSIVE TALENT is proof that he is the greatest living actor. pic.twitter.com/c8tZIIREdu

Hatching
This new Finnish horror film brings the stress of parents’ approval to a whole new level. The story follows Tinja, a 12-year-old gymnast who constantly fights for her mother’s approval. After Tinja finds a strange egg, her and her family’s lives will never be the same.
The movie first premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival in January to favorable reactions. In IndieWire’s review, Kate Erbland says the film “unpacks womanhood” and “is skilled at keeping the tension high while finding amusing pockets of pure comedy.”
Hatching will have all horror fans on the edge of their seat.
The Northman
The original tale that brought Shakespeare’s Hamlet to life is now in theaters; The Northman shares a medieval plot of revenge. Alexander Skarsgård plays Prince Amleth, a young Viking who spends his life seeking vengeance for his father’s murder and uncle’s betrayal. The film has an all-star cast, including Nicole Kidman, Ethan Hawke, Anya Taylor-Joy, Willem Dafoe, and Claes Bang.
Fans went on their own quest, heading to The Northman’s opening weekend on April 22nd.
I saw “The Northman” today at my local Alamo in Dolby Atmos sound. The first great film of 2022, this was an incredible, sensory experience only made better by having a real viking in the audience. saw THE NORTHMAN tonight, and just before the movie started a huge group of bros came in and sat front-row-centre. When the movie ended, one of them said ‘That was INSANE’ and they all high-fived.
just goes to show you can’t judge a film fan by their cover

Memory
Liam Neeson returns to his action-packed roots in the thriller remake Memory. The movie follows Liam as Alex, an expert assassin who becomes a target when he refuses to complete a job for a criminal organization. Now, Alex must run for his life from criminals and the FBI. Guy Pearce and Monica Bellucci also star.
“Neeson makes more movies, each one a lot like the last, to the extent that audiences reasonably know what to expect,” Variety’s Peter Debruge explains in his review. “Memory may surprise them — provided they’ve forgotten the movie on which it’s based, that is, since the twisty plot felt fresher in its earlier incarnation.
Whether you’ve seen every Liam Neeson Taken film or just love the action genre, Memory will give you the thrill of your life.
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore
The gang is back to their wizard ways for Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore. Set several years after the events of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, Dumbledore (Jude Law) seeks help from magizoologist Newt Scamander and his friends to defeat the evil Grindelwald and his followers.
Muggles and wizards alike lived in harmony for film’s opening weekend on April 15, 2022.

The Bad Guys
Are you thinking of going to the movies tonight? Check out the new animated comedy, The Bad Guys. Starring Sam Rockwell, Marc Maron, Anthony Ramos, Awkwafina, and Craig Robinson, the film follows notorious animal criminals that must become model citizens to avoid prison.
The Bad Guys is a movie for the whole family to enjoy. It adds some humor and backstory to animals (like snakes, wolves, sharks, tarantulas, and piranhas) that are considered “dangerous” by society. The Guardian’s Wendy Ide calls the film a “Looney Tunes meets the Oceans series.”
After its release on April 22, audiences took to Twitter to share their love for the comical crime film.
I don’t know about you guys, but The Bad Guys might actually be one of DreamWorks’ best film to come out in quite a long while now. I love everything from the stylization, the action, the dialogue, the voice acting, the story, EVERYTHING this film has to offer! 9.8/10! 🙏🏻❤️ pic.twitter.com/mGo2rV1AzC
