Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 will continue to receive new free content into 2026, including a new playable class, developer Saber Interactive has announced.
As outlined in Space Marine 2’s Year 2 Battle Plan, the Techmarine class will be the game’s seventh playable class and come as part of the game’s Patch 12, expected to arrive in the first quarter of 2026.
Saber Interactive didn’t give too many new details about the Techmarine aside from the fact that it will be able to use a new Techmarine-exclusive weapon, the Omnissiah Axe. In the Warhammer 40K lore, Techmarines study under the Adeptus Mechanicus to learn the ways of ancient machines so that they may continue to wage war against mankind’s enemies.
Aside from the Techmarine, the Year 2 Battle Plan includes multiple new PvE missions coming as part of Patch 11, 12, and 13, new PvP arenas, a new map for the game’s Siege mode, progression updates, and more. The updates will also coincide with the release of cosmetic DLC packs for various Space Marine chapters, including the Blood Angels, Iron Hands, Salamanders, Raven Guard, and others.

Space Marine 2 will kick off its second year of content on September 4 with the release of its anniversary update, which introduces a new PvP mode where players get to control a Helbrute. It also includes additional weapons, the Chaos Spawn majoris enemy, an additional PvE mission, and cosmetic DLC for the Imperial Fists and Black Templars.
It’s been a big year for Space Marine 2, with Saber Interactive announcing in June the game had sold seven million copies. Saber Interactive announced it has officially started development on Space Marine 3, even as it continues to deliver more free Space Marine 2 updates. Those updates included the addition of a new Horde mode and better mod support.
A recent remaster of the original Space Marine, however, hasn’t been as well-received, with the game suffering from so many issues at launch that publisher Sega began to offer refunds even as it outlined plans to improve the shooter.
