Victoria Beckham documentary coming to Netflix, from the makers of David’s miniseries

Victoria Beckham’s life will be the subject of a new Netflix documentary, from the makers of her husband’s 2023 four-part series.

Titled Victoria Beckham, the three-part docuseries will arrive on October 9 on the streaming service, featuring interviews with David and Victoria Beckham, as well as “leading figures in fashion”. The series will be directed by Nadia Hallgren, who directed Michelle Obama’s Becoming.

Beckham shot to fame as part of the Spice Girls, who dominated the pop charts from 1996 to 2001. Following the group disbanding, she released four solo singles between 2000 and 2003, as well the 2001 album ‘Victoria Beckham’, which release number 10 in the UK charts. Her highest charting outside of the Spice Girls was 2000’s ‘Out Of Your Mind’, a collaboration with Dane Bowers and True Steppers which reached number two in the charts.

While predominately focusing on the fashion industry in the years since, she reunited with her former bandmates for the 2007-2008 The Return Of The Spice Girls tour, and the 2012 Summer Olympics closing ceremony in London. She chose not to return for the ‘Wannabe’ singers’ 2019 reunion tour, citing other commitments, with the remaining members proceeding without her.

A Netflix press release for the forthcoming doc reads: “The series traces Beckham’s story from her formative years and rise to unprecedented success with the Spice Girls, through her high-profile relationship with football legend David Beckham, to her relentless work to establish herself in the cutthroat world of haute couture. Following her journey as she prepares for her most ambitious runway show yet at Paris Fashion Week, the docuseries weaves together past and present to reveal the challenges and triumphs that have defined her — and continue to drive her forward.”

The David Beckham series, titled simply Beckham, was released in 2023 and created a viral moment in the form of a scene where David tells Victoria to “be honest” about her upbringing. According to the former England football captain, the moment angered the series’ director, Succession actor Fisher Stevens.

In May, Victoria’s former bandmate, Mel B, hinted at a possible 30th anniversary Spice Girls tour.
