US comedy rock band fire member over “disgusting” Ozzy Osbourne meme

US comedy rock band Green Jellÿ have fired one of their members following a “disgusting” meme about Ozzy Osbourne.

The band, who are known for their 1992 song ‘Three Little Pigs’, have confirmed that they have parted ways with Michael “Fr33to F33t” Snyder following a post made about the late metal icon.

While many artists have paid touching tributes to the soloist and Black Sabbath singer following his death on July 22, Green Jellÿ seemed to take a different approach, and posted a meme that made light of the singer’s relationship with drugs.

As reported by American Songwriter, Far Out and Loudwire, the band posted a photoshopped image of Osbourne holding up a sign reading “one day sober” shortly after news of his death broke.

Frontman Bill Manspeaker then shared a different post, saying he deleted the image as soon as he noticed it had been uploaded, and blamed Snyder for sharing it.

“He posted an extremely rude video about Ozzy Dying that I found highly offensive & I immediately took it down,” the singer shared in the post, which has also been taken down. “The guy lost his mind & instantly started to demonize me on Facebook,” he then alleged. “Now it’s gotten beyond the point of nonstop harassment…”

Also in the update, Manspeaker claimed that Snyder “maybe played 10 shows in 10 years and doesn’t even plug in his bass when on stage…he just wants the selfie of him on stage,” and previously asked him to sign CDs “so he can sell them online”.

“Everything was fine until the moment I take down his distasteful meme about Ozzys death,” the frontman added, before also accusing Snyder of trying to “cancel” him, and saying that a “complete shit show” followed.

Snyder then made a post on Facebook about the falling out too, and while he didn’t mention the Ozzy Osbourne meme, he said that he was made to leave the band because he “dared to question William Manspeaker.”

“It’s a shame that some asshat on TikTok caused so much crap, but I’ll always defend my decisions to push the limits of being a punk rocker,” he added.

Snyder then denied Manspeaker’s claims that he hacked into his social media accounts, and responded to a fan who questioned the nature of the post in question. “But, dark humour is what we’ve done there for years,” the musician said (via American Songwriter). “I would apologize to anyone who was seriously offended.”

The band, back in their early days, once counted Tool, Puscifer and A Perfect Circle singer Maynard James Keenan as a member. The singer has not been a part of the group for decades now, and performed at Ozzy’s final live show in Birmingham on July 5 – just weeks before the metal godfather’s passing.

Green Jellÿ will be heading on a headline tour with 96 Bitter Beings, The Convalescence, The Bunny The Bear and Ignominious next month, and the tour starts on September 10 in Alabama.
