Tom Holland reveals ADHD and dyslexia diagnosis

Spider-Man star Tom Holland has discussed how being diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia affects his acting process.

The actor spoke to IGN to promote his new collaboration with Lego, where he was asked about the importance of play in his everyday life. “I think it really does help,” Holland replied. “I have ADHD and I’m dyslexic, and I find sometimes when someone gives me a blank canvas that it can be slightly intimidating. And sometimes you are met with those challenges when developing a character.

“So any way that you can, as a young person or as an adult, interact with something that forces you to be creative and forces you to think outside the box and make changes that might be in an instruction manual or might not be in an instruction manual just promotes healthy creativity. And I think that the more we do that sort of stuff, the better.”

Tom Holland is currently busy with two blockbuster projects, the first being Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, in which he plays Telemachus, the son of Matt Damon’s lead Odysseus. The movie is so highly anticipated that cinemas began offering screenings a year before its July 16, 2026 release, most of which sold out.

He will also return to the Marvel universe in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, also due for release next summer. In July, he discussed returning to the part, saying: “We’re really gonna lean into that old-school filmmaking and shoot in real locations… it’s gonna feel like making Spider-Man One again. It’s been such a long time since I’ve done it, it’s gonna feel like a breath of fresh air, and I think the fans are going to be over the moon with what we’re putting together.”

Last month, he also addressed rumours that he was in contention to become the next James Bond, replacing the outgoing Daniel Craig.
