Ever since Daniel Craig retired from the role of 007 in No Time To Die, fans of the long-running franchise have been speculating who would play the titular character moving forward.
Among those names were Idris Elba, Henry Cavill, Robert Pattinson, Tom Holland and more. Speculations have since picked up steam after Amazon MGM Studios in June announced that Dune filmmaker Denis Villeneuve will helm the next entry, while it was announced last week that Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight will pen the script.
In late June, Variety reported that Amazon’s wish list for the project will be an actor in their twenties, with the intent of focusing on a younger Bond in the new adventures. The list includes Babygirl actor Harris Dickinson, Australian Saltburn star Jacob Elordi, and Marvel actor Tom Holland.
Despite being rumoured for the role for several years, Holland has never spoken publicly about the project – until now. In a recent video with celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, the world-famous cook asked Holland: “Have you ever thought about using the name James in future movies going forward?”
Tom replied: “Listen, there’s speculation at the minute. We’ll keep it to a minimum for now. We’ll get there one day.” Gordon then asked Tom to imagine what would happen if he landed the role.
“I mean every young British actor, it’s the pinnacle of working in our industry. I already consider myself to be the luckiest kid alive. I could not have dreamed to have the career that I have,” Holland responded.

It is worth noting that Amazon MGM Studios has yet to officially cast an actor for the role of James Bond.
When it was first announced in June that the next Bond would likely go to a younger actor, the internet criticised the idea of Holland as 007. “I adore Tom Holland, and he has more than proved his ability to play action characters” one fan wrote on X. “But… He cannot play James Bond. He’s too adorable”.
“Tom Holland is a fine actor, but I’m convinced he’s going to look like a 16-year-old for the rest of his life” one user explained. “He’s about as far away from James Bond as you can get”.
Since then, Holland has recently begun filming his fourth Spider-Man film, Brand New Day.
In other Bond-related news, Kingsman actor Taron Egerton – who has also been a fan favourite for the role – has seemingly taken himself out of the running: “I don’t think I’m a good choice for it. I think I’m too messy for that… as far as I’m aware, nobody’s asking me to do it. But also, it’s possibly not quite the thing that would make me happiest. I do think it’s a big old undertaking, it kind of consumes your life, a role like that.”
