Fans have been sharing clips from The Osbournes while celebrating the life of Ozzy Osbourne, who has died aged 76.
A statement issued by his family confirmed on Tuesday (July 22) that Osbourne died “surrounded by love”. Tributes have poured in from around the music world, including Alice Cooper, Ghost, Gojira, and Osbourne’s Black Sabbath bandmates Tommy Iommi and Geezer Butler.
Fans on X (formerly Twitter) have been remembering his time on The Osbournes, a reality TV show that ran from 2002-5. It followed the lives of the Osbourne family – Ozzy and wife Sharon, along with their children Jack and Kelly. It became a global hit at the time due to Ozzy’s eccentric antics and the family’s frequent use of profanity.
It was a pioneering programme in television history, propelling all four to world stardom and introducing Ozzy to a new audience outside of his music. The show is also considered to have paved the way for shows such as Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
Following Osbourne’s death, a number of people who remembered the show fondly posted clips from classic episodes, sharing their fondness for the family.
“The Osbournes was arguably one of the only reality TV shows ever worth watching. RIP Ozzy” posted one, while another wrote: “The Osbournes man I miss that particular era of reality TV. Ozzy doing a reality show was wild to me at the time”.
