The Last Of Us co-creator Neil Druckmann has taken to social media to confirm news about the franchise is coming, with many fans assuming he’s talking about the long-awaited sequel.
Over the weekend, Sony and Naughty Dog celebrated the annual The Last Of Day. As part of the event, The Last Of Us Part Two was added to the PlayStation Plus library, themed avatars were added to Steam and fans could also download The Last Of Us-themed pumpkin stencils, ready for Hallowe’en.
Taking to Instagram, Druckmann marked the occasion by sharing a photo of the official script book of the games. “Love how the script book turned out. Lots of fond memories while flipping through the pages. Happy The Last Of Us day,” he wrote.
He then added: “Can’t wait to give y’all more TLoU updates when the time is right,” which has sparked a lot of speculation about the rumoured The Last Of Us Part Three.
Last year, a Making Of documentary about The Last Of Us Part Two featured a clip of Druckmann confirming that he had “concept” for a third game after years of struggling to come up with an exciting idea. “It does feel like there’s probably one more chapter to this story,” he added.
However earlier this year, he suggested that the HBO adaptation could be “it” for the franchise before later revealing that with the right story, he would “totally jump” at making The Last Of Us Part Three. “It’s important to me that everything is high quality. I don’t just want to make a lot of it, I want to be very thoughtful about everything we make,” he explained.

Neil Druckmann has also stepped away as showrunner on HBO’s The Last Of Us adaptation. “With work completed on season 2 and before any meaningful work starts on season 3, now is the right time for me to transition my complete focus to Naughty Dog and its future projects, including writing and directing our exciting next game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, along with my responsibilities as Studio Head and Head of Creative,” he wrote back in July.
Following his announcement, Halley Gross – who co-wrote The Last Of Us Part Two and was a writer and executive producer on the HBO series – also announced that she would be stepping back from her “day-to-day work” on the series.
The third and potentially final season of HBO’s The Last Of Us will “definitely” air in 2027.
In other news, Morgan Wallen, Zac Efron and other big names star in a new Battlefield 6 trailer that throws shade on rival Call Of Duty.
