The Last Of Us star Bella Ramsey has put themself forward to be the next Spider-Man.
The Marvel superhero is due to return to the big screen in next year’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day, with Tom Holland back in the role for his fourth standalone film.
Ramsey was recently asked by Variety whether their The Last Of Us co-star Pedro Pascal – who is starring in the latest Marvel film The Fantastic Four: First Steps – had spoken to them about appearing in a superhero film.
“I don’t know about that,” they responded, before pitching: “I could be Spider-Man. Tom Holland did a great job though. So maybe they do need to make a new [superhero] for me.”
Ramsey added that they recently watched Andrew Garfield’s take on the character, further sharing: “It was the first time I watched a Marvel film, and that was two months, three months ago, that I’d ever seen a Marvel film. And it was Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man.”
The star called it “incredible” and said that they “loved it”.

Filming has begun on Brand New Day, which will also see the returns of Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds and Michael Mando as Scorpion, while fellow MCU stars Mark Ruffalo, Charlie Cox and Jon Bernthal will appear as the Hulk, Daredevil and the Punisher, respectively. Stranger Things‘ Sadie Sink and The Bear‘s Liza Colon-Zayas have also been cast.
In other Spider-Man news, animated sequel Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse recently had its 2027 release date pushed back again – but only by a few weeks – which comes after numerous delays.
Meanwhile, Ramsey revealed earlier this year that they used online game Club Penguin to “explore” their gender identity.
“My penguin was called Tomboy Bella and was red. I did karate on the freaking Karate Hill. I was loving life in Club Penguin world,” they told Them Magazine. “You can be whoever you want behind that avatar.”
