**Spoilers ahead for the first episode of The Celebrity Traitors**
The inaugural series of The Celebrity Traitors launched last night (October 8), with fans already backing comedian Alan Carr as a favourite.
The spinoff of the hit reality show sees Claudia Winkleman return to oversee a group of celebrities as they try to find the designation Traitors among the group of Faithfuls, with the Traitors themselves conspiring to eliminate the rest without being discovered. The contestant who remains wins a cash prize, which will go to a charity of their choice.
Famous faces from all areas of entertainment have gathered at Ardross Castle in Scotland for the series – singers Paloma Faith and Charlotte Church; sportsmen Tom Daley and Joe Marler; and presenters Clare Balding and Sir Stephen Fry. However, it’s comedian Alan Carr who has emerged as a fan favourite, with viewers enjoying his antics on the first episode.
During the episode, Carr was designated as a Traitor alongside TV presenter Jonathan Ross and singer-songwriter Cat Burns. The comedian’s wicked sense of humour already has viewers excited about him in the role.
“Alan Carr as a traitor on #CelebrityTraitors… is just comedy gold!” wrote one person on X (formerly Twitter), while another added: “Alan Carr being a traitor is, and I’m not being the least bit dramatic, the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”

One shot of him showing up dramatically in a cloak with a lantern has also drawn attention. “The chaos of Alan Carr as a Traitor is already giving me life and my TV highlight of the year,” wrote one fan. “Especially if they keep showing us him stalking the corridors of the castle in darkness like the Hunchback of Notre Dame.”

Another viewer noted that Carr’s seeming inability to keep a straight face when called a Faithful was a highlight of the episode.

The Celebrity Traitors will run for nine episode from October 8-24. The series follows the epic finale of the main show’s third season, which was the most watched episode in the show’s history. It wasn’t without controversy, however, as many were unhappy with the winners, and the production drew criticism for its lack of Scotland-based production talent.
