The finale of Strangers Things is coming to cinemas, in a first for TV shows.
The hit Netflix hit show is due to air its final season this November. So far, it’s been confirmed that the season will be split into three volumes, with the runtimes for its first instalment having been revealed recently.
The first chapter will arrive on November 27 at 1am GMT, while the second part will drop at 1am on December 26. Its finale will then air at 1am on New Year’s Day in the UK. You can find out everything else you need to know about the show here.
Deadline have now reported that the finale will debut in over 350 cinemas in the US and UK, with the screenings starting at 5pm PT on December 31 – the same time as it drops on Netflix in North America and the rest of the world.
This would be a first for a TV series, as an episode of a TV show screening in cinemas the same time as it arrives on streaming has never been done before. Episodes of HBO’s Game Of Thrones and the previous season of Stranger Things have screened in cinemas before, but never at the same time as their broadcast.

NME has reached out to Netflix for details of any UK cinema screenings.
In an official statement series creators Matt and Ross Duffer said: “We’re beyond excited that fans will have the chance to experience the final episode of Stranger Things in theaters — it’s something we’ve dreamed about for years.”
They continued: “Getting to see it on the big screen, with incredible sound, picture, and a room full of fans, feels like the perfect — dare we say bitchin’ — way to celebrate the end of this adventure.”
Recently, series star Finn Wolfhard admitted the cast were “pretty worried” about backlash for the final episodes having seen the divisive response to the last season of Game Of Thrones.
Matt Duffer also squashed any rumours that Joseph Quinn would be returning to the series as Eddie Munson, who died in the previous season.
