The creators of Strangers Things are developing a spin-off inspired by Twin Peaks, according to star Finn Wolfhard.
The hit Netflix series comes to a close this year with its fifth season, with the first four episodes to debut on November 26, followed by three episodes on December 25, and the series finale on December 31.
As with many series, talk has turned to continuing the franchise via spin-off series, and in a new interview with Variety, series creator Ross Duffer said Wolfhard, who stars as Mike in the show, guessed what it was about.
“Nobody — not Netflix, not any of the producers, not any of the directors, not any of the actors — nobody else has figured out what the spin-off is. Finn figured out, which is pretty remarkable,” he said. “We’ve mind-melded with this kid a bit.”
In the same article, the actor revealed his correct guess. “Like David Lynch’s Twin Peaks” he said of the spin-off’s concept. “Sort of an anthology and different tones but similar universe or same universe. I think set in different places and all tied together through this mythology of the Upside Down”.
He continued: “Don’t even talk about Hawkins. Don’t have any mention of our characters. They were toying around with ideas in case Netflix wanted them. I’m sure they do, and I’m sure it will happen, but there’s nothing official. I think the coolest way, the way that I would do it, there has to be labs everywhere. If there was one in Hawkins, there’s one in Russia. Where else could they be?”

No official announcement has been made on a live-action spin-off, although an animated series titled Stranger Things: Tales From 85 is set to debut in 2026.
Recently, Ross Duffer dismissed a supposedly leaked image that stated the final Stranger Things series would have feature-length episodes. Cast member Winona Ryder also shared the advice she gave to her younger co-stars.
