‘Silent Hill’ composer Akira Yamaoka announces headline tour

Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka has announced details of his first-ever US headline tour, which kicks off early next year.

Akira Yamaoka is a Japanese composer, producer and sound designer who worked with Konami on Silent Hill between 1999 and 2009. In that time, he helped create the terrifying worlds of nine Silent Hill titles including the original trilogy, mobile game The Escape and the reimagined Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. He returned to Konami last year to work on the Silent Hill 2 remake and the recently released Silent Hill f.

Yamaoka has already released a number of solo albums and has contributed to the World Of Tanks and Lollipop Chainsaw soundtracks.

Now, Yamaoka has announced details of his first-ever US headline tour. According to a press release, the musician will “bring his iconic soundtracks to life in a cinematic live performance experience”. The tour kicks off next year in Los Angeles before visiting Phoenix, San Diego, Orlando, New York and Dallas before wrapping things up in Austin. Check out the full dates below:

Support for the entire run comes from singer and composer Raj Ramayya, who’s written songs for Cowboy Bebop, Made In Abyss, Wolf’s Rain and Resident Evil.

The pair are set to release their new collaborative track ‘Encrypted Code Reality’ this Friday (October 31). The song is taken from the soundtrack for Tom Hardy’s War Party, which is due to hit cinemas next year. Not much else is known about the project but it’s rumoured to be an adventure film about Navy SEALS.
