Schedule 1, the early-access drug selling sim that is regularly in the top-played games on Steam, is receiving a new type of drug following the results of a community vote.
In a post on Steam, developer TVGS revealed shrooms will officially be Schedule 1’s fourth drug type after winning over 269,000 votes in a recent community poll. Other features players had the option to vote for included drivers (which secured 139,000 votes) and fishing (with 85,000) votes. Both non-winning choices will appear in future community votes, TVGS said.
The addition of shrooms will bring a unique production process, new production equipment that can be used for both shrooms and other drugs, additional ingredients, and new customers, according to TVGS.
As for when the update will arrive, TVGS said it will be sometime from mid-October to late November, with the release window being “quite open-ended” to avoid the potential for repeated delays while allowing time for the game’s Halloween update on October 31.
Schedule 1 launched in March 2025, allowing players to build a drug-dealing empire from the ground up. Its most recent Rival Cartels update in August added the ability to compete with a rival drug cartel, the Benzies family, with new gameplay mechanics like cartel deals, ambushes, dealer robbings, dead drop thefts, and more. It also introduced a new property for purchase, the Hyland Manor, which can be acquired after complaining the Benzies family storyline.
According to the game’s Steam early access FAQ, Schedule 1 is planned to be in early access for around two years, during which the game’s map will be expanded, more drugs will be added, and the introduction of more “fun things” for players to spend their in-game cash on. TVGS states the price of Schedule 1 may increase in price “slightly” after leaving early access. It’s currently available for $20, and is one of GameSpot’s best co-op games of 2025.
