Pete Davidson will hot Saturday Night Live on May 6th.
As season 48 of NBC‘s Saturday Night Live comes close to wrapping up, we’re going to see a familiar face coming back to the show. For those of you who already miss Pete Davidson after exiting the series last season, you’ll be glad to know that he’ll be hosting SNL on May 6, according to Page Six. And the timing couldn’t be more perfect, with Davidson promoting his new Peacock series, Bupkis (co-starring Joe Pesci). It will premiere on May 4.
It’s always a great time when a former cast member like Pete Davidson comes back to Saturday Night Live because we get to see what they’ve been up to since leaving the show. Okay, so maybe when Norm MacDonald came back to host in 1999 it was a little awkward, but season 48 has also graced us with the presence of Molly Shannon, who revisited her Jeannie Darcy character in a prerecorded segment! And with Pete Davidson at the helm, we’re hoping to see him revisit some of his most iconic roles from his eight-season tenure.
By the looks of it, Pete Davidson is beyond excited to come back to his Saturday Night Live stomping grounds at 30 Rock! It’s no mystery by now how much he loves and appreciates the work of and vision of Lorne Michaels, who is executive producing Davidson’s new show. In a way, Michaels was an early mentor to Davidson, who was the youngest cast member to appear on SNL since the show’s inception in 1975.
In fact, when Pete Davidson first joined Saturday Night Live at the age of 20, he admittedly had no clue what he was doing. But we got to see him blossom into a comedic titan over the years, and we’re so glad that we had the pleasure of watching him grow up in front of our very eyes. So it’s safe to say that he’s glad to come back to his alma mater to jam some more jokes through the airwaves one more time.
Though no musical guest has been announced as of yet, we’re hoping that the man behind the infamous Guaplord from the “Rap Roundtable” sketches will have some pull when it comes to who will be performing. Since Pete Davidson’s final sketch in season 47, which was a rap tribute to Lorne Michaels (featuring Eminem), we’re wondering if we’ll hear some hip-hop beats with the occasional “yee, yee, skrri, skrri” decorating the instrumentation. Though we can’t know for sure, we’re sure that the musical guest will not disappoint on this upcoming episode of Saturday Night Live.
As we all know, Pete Davidson’s return to Saturday Night Live will be a one-off, but we hope to see him return to host in future seasons. For those of you who miss his short-form comedy, you can catch his new show Bupkis, which is described as a “heightened fictionalized version” of his real life on Peacock. If you’re a fan of Pete Davidson, and Curb Your Enthusiasm, then you’ll probably want to mark your calendar for May 4, 2023 to check out his appearance.
And while you have your planner out, you’re going to want to make sure you don’t miss Pete Davidson’s return to Saturday Night Live just two days later on May 6.
