As announced on Friday (September 19), the pop star will appear at the iconic country-music venue’s stage on October 7 as part of the Nashville institution’s ongoing 100th-anniversary festivities.

The historic space has seen career-defining performances from the likes of Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, Hank Williams and Dolly Parton – who teamed up with Carpenter on the fresh country take of hit single ‘Please Please Please’ for the deluxe edition of Carpenter’s latest album ‘Short N’ Sweet’

Throughout the year, the Opry has been celebrating its 100th birthday, with a statement on their website promising “bigger shows, bolder moments, huge stars and surprise guests”. As well as Carpenter, Laci Kaye Booth and Kameron Marlowe are scheduled to perform, with more artists yet to be announced. You can find your tickets here.

Her Opry debut follows another career first announced earlier this week for Carpenter, who is set to host Saturday Night Live for the first time ever.

The pop star will pull double duty on the third episode of the iconic show’s 51st season on October 18. It will be the first time she has hosted, but she was previously a musical guest on season 49. She was also part of the show’s 50th anniversary celebrations back in February, at one point appearing in a sketch where she sang an off-key version of ‘Espresso’.

Meanwhile, Carpenter was also announced as one of the headliners of next year’s Coachella alongside Justin Bieber and Karol G. After days of speculation, she was confirmed to be closing out the Friday night of both weekends at the desert music festival.

As for upcoming live dates, she is gearing up for the second North American leg of the ‘Short n’ Sweet’ tour in late October, which will mark her first time back on the road since sharing the latest record, ‘Man’s Best Friend’.

It scored a four-star review from NME, with Nick Levine writing: “Musically, this album isn’t markedly different from its predecessor, though it has a few more country-leaning cuts sprinkled among the daytime disco and featherlight funk.

“It also sticks to Carpenter’s winning formula of pairing sticky melodies with pithy lyrics about the flaws and allure of inadequate males. If there were a Bechdel Test for pop albums, ‘Man’s Best Friend’ wouldn’t be in danger of passing it.”

Meanwhile, Carpenter recently joked that her label “really didn’t give a fuck” about her after learning there were only 200 copies of her debut album made for vinyl.
