Oasis and AC/DC Edinburgh gigs hit by noise complaints

AC/DC and Oasis have been hit with the same noise complaint after playing shows at Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium over the summer.

Two months ago, AC/DC played their first gig in Scotland in a decade, with their high-octane August 21 concert garnering eight complaints from locals about the noise pollution, per the BBC.

Three Oasis concerts earlier in the month at the 70,000 capacity venue also attracted complaints following ‘Live ‘25’ dates held there on August 8, 9 and 12.

Environmental health officers were said to have carried out noise measurements at the venue and other city locations, and reported that the “permitted noise level was exceeded” during the AC/DC concert, with officials pointing largely to fireworks set off at the end of the shows for the excessive noise.

A spokesperson for the council said they will now recommend that fireworks are not used during future events at the stadium.

This is notably not the time Oasis have been in hot water with the Edinburgh council. Liam Gallagher has previously called them “a bunch of snakes” after a report emerged that suggested Oasis fans would be “rowdy” and “intoxicated” ahead of the concerts.

Responding to the points raised by the Edinburgh city council, Liam wrote on X/Twitter: “To the Edinburgh council I’ve heard what you said about OASIS fans and quite frankly your attitude fucking stinks I’d leave town that day if I was any of you lot.”

He later added, “What about Edinburgh council, the fucking slags. The amount of money we’re going to bring in, they’ll split with their posh, ugly mates.”

Elsewhere on X, he whipped up a frenzy yesterday (October 1) after telling fans that there was a “big announcement coming soon” and to “keep your eyes peeled”. Those posts followed him telling the crowd at Wembley he’ll see them “next year” on Oasis’ final night at the venue.

After asking fans if they were “ready” and checking if they needed “another 5 mins“, he announced: “Rite [sic] this is it we’re going in – I AM THE FUCKING BOLLOCKS”.
