Morgan Wallen, Zac Efron and other big names star in a new Battlefield 6 trailer that throws shade on rival Call Of Duty.

A new trailer for Battlefield 6 has been revealed starring Hollywood heavyweight Zac Efron, UFC fighter Paddy Pimblett, professional basketball player Jimmy Butler and country singer Morgan Wallen.

The cinematic clip starts with the four stars preparing to take part in a battle, with each one assigned a standard Battlefield role (engineer, assault, support, recon). However, a missile strikes the team and they’re replaced by standard soldiers. “Who was that?” asks one of the newcomers. “Doesn’t matter,” replies another. The rest of the trailer features lots of gritty, grounded combat, soundtracked by The Smashing Pumpkins classic ‘Bullet With Butterfly Wings’.

A number of fans believe the celebrity cameos at the start of Battlefield trailer are mocking Call Of Duty which, in recent entries, has introduced a number of controversial celebrity crossovers. In Black Ops 6, playable characters from Squid Game, Family Guy and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles can be unlocked, while Seth Rogen also appeared as part of the High Art battlepass.

Last month, Battlefield 6’s design director Shashank Uchil said the game had to be grounded. “That is what Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4 was. It was all soldiers on the ground. I don’t think it needs Nicki Minaj,” he added (via VGC). “Let’s keep it real, keep it grounded.”

Battlefield 6 is due to launch October 10 for PlayStation 5, PC and Xbox Series X/S. Meanwhile Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7 will be released November 14.

Earlier this year, Call Of Duty developers Activision confirmed that all the controversial Black Ops 6 skins could be transferred to the upcoming sequel. However following backlash, they later backtracked and removed operator skins from the ‘Carry Forward’ feature. “Some of you have said we’ve drifted from what made Call Of Duty unique in the first place: immersive, intense, visceral and in many ways grounded. That feedback hits home, and we take it seriously,” explained a statement.
