Earlier this year, hip-hop label Mass Appeal announced they were going to release seven new albums from seven different hip-hop legends, and Mobb Deep‘s has now been announced, with ‘Infinite’ due out on October 10 via Mass Appeal Records.

The first offering from the album was shared yesterday (September 11), and sees Havoc and the late Prodigy trading verses over a soulful beat, with Havoc and The Alchemist producing. It marks their first release following Prodigy’s passing in 2017.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, Havoc described it as a “full circle” moment. “It’s that classic Mobb energy: dark, real, unfiltered. The sound that shaped who we are but also speaks to where hip-hop is right now.”

He went on to say that listeners “can expect nothing less than the essence of Mobb Deep” on ‘Infinite’, down to the “gritty New York sound they know and love, unapologetically true to what we have always delivered, even in a constantly shifting musical landscape.”

Prodigy’s most recent posthumous project was ‘The Hegelian Dialectic 2: The Book Of Heroine‘, which arrived around the same time that his estate worked out a new deal with ADA, the independent distribution arm of Warner Music Group. This deal then allowed for all of Prodigy’s solo discography – including his five studio albums – to return to streaming services after it was pulled in 2019.

As for Mass Appeal’s ‘Legend Has It…’ series, the legacy of Trugoy the Dove will be honoured with the release of the first De La Soul albums since his death, with a posthumous release from Big L also coming.

The series will see Nas & DJ Premier team up for a full collaborative album, whilst Wu-Tang Clan‘s Ghostface Killah will release the sequel to his 2000 sophomore album ‘Supreme Clientele’. Fellow Wu-Tang member Raekwon will also release a new album titled ‘Emperor’s New Clothes’.
