This month marks the fourth anniversary of the announcement for Marvel’s Wolverine. Insomniac Games hasn’t shared much beyond the game’s initial teaser. But according to a new report, Wolverine will be featured at Sony’s next State of Play event near the end of September.
According to Insider Gaming, a new trailer for Wolverine has been finished for a potential debut at State of Play. Sony already had a State of Play this week for 007: First Light, and it hasn’t yet announced plans for another one this month. Insider Gaming acknowledged the possibility that Wolverine’s trailer could be pushed back to The Game Awards in December if the next State of Play isn’t scheduled for this month.
Insomniac has already confirmed that Wolverine take place in the same universe as the three Spider-Man on PS4 and PS5. Unofficially, some potential spoilers for Wolverine were released after the Insomniac hack in 2023. Later reports suggested that Insomniac made changes to the game after the hack, but it’s unclear how significant they were. Previous reports have also stated that Wolverine may be M-rated to better serve the character’s violent nature.
At the beginning of 2025, Insomniac boss Chad Dezern refused to share any new details about Wolverine. But he acknowledged the pent-up excitement from fans who want to play the game.
“[We would] love to talk more about Wolverine,” said Dezern. “We have to be like Logan today, and remain very stoic until it’s time to pop the claws down the road … As much as we’re as much as we have pent up excitement, we got to hold on to it. So that’s about as much as we could say about our upcoming projects today.”
Wolverine will be released on PlayStation 5, but it doesn’t currently have a release date.
