Leonardo DiCaprio is reported to be considering joining the cast of the sequel to classic crime film Heat.
An article by The Hollywood Reporter has said the actor, currently enjoying critical and box office success with One Battle After Another, is circling the project, which has been in development since 2022 and is telling a new story with a brand new cast.
Adam Driver has also been linked to the movie, currently known as Heat 2, which recently moved from original studio Warner Bros to United Artists, owned by Amazon. As yet, no official announcements have been made regarding the cast or further details about the film.
1995 thriller Heat was directed by Michael Mann, telling the story of an LA detective (Al Pacino) on the tail of a career criminal (Robert De Niro), with both men battling their respective personal struggles. Considered one of the best films of the ‘90s, it delivered many classic moments, specifically one diner scene where the two acting legends come face-to-face for the first time.
The film inspired a generation of filmmakers that came after, with Christopher Nolan citing it as an inspiration for his blockbuster The Dark Knight. The Grand Theft Auto video game series also made references to the film.
