KPop Demon Hunters will be coming to selected cinemas across the UK for sing-a-long screenings during the August Bank Holiday weekend.
The animated film arrived on Netflix in June and quickly became their most watched original animated film of all time, amassing a huge community of fans. News of sing-a-long screenings in the US and Canada had emerged yesterday (August 13), and now, it has been confirmed they will also be taking place in the UK next week.
Tickets for the special screenings are available now – you can see a list of participating cinemas and buy your tickets here.
The film, produced by Sony Music Animation, is directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans and based on a story conceived by Kang. It follows a K-pop girl group named Huntr/x, who lead double lives as demon hunters and face off against a rival boy band The Saja Boys, whose members are secretly demons.
Arden Cho, May Hong and Ji-young Yoo voice the three members of Huntr/x, while Ejae, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami provide their singing voices. The fictional group’s single ‘Golden’ is the current UK Number One single, after becoming only the second K-pop song ever to achieve that feat, after Psy’s ‘Gangnam Style’.
There has already been talk of a live-action remake entering production, as well as two animated sequels and even a stage musical. According to a report by The Wrap the streamer said to believe that they may have found their own Frozen franchise.

The Saja Boys’ song ‘Your Idol’ has also seen major chart success, reaching the second spot on the US charts last month, which means they have surpassed BTS’ record for the highest-charting K-pop boy band in the country. BTS responded to the achievement by posting a video of themselves singing along to ‘Your Idol’.
