Katy Perry has had the last laugh following criticism of her ‘Lifetimes’ tour – already making eight-figures from the shows.
According to new figures shared by Page Six and Billboard, the pop star has already made a huge amount from her recent run of tour dates – grossing more than $80million (£59million) in sales.
The outlets claim that the figure was shared by her management, and stem from her playing a total of 45 shows across the US, Canada, and Australia. The tour kicked off earlier this year, and in those three countries alone she has allegedly sold 1.1million tickets.
These figures will rise again when the singer heads over to Latin America, Europe and China for her upcoming ‘Teenage Dream’ live shows. These include stops in the UK, where the ‘E.T.’ singer will perform in Manchester, Sheffield and Birmingham next month, and wrap up the stint with a closing night at London’s O2 Arena on October 13.
Those shows will also see her make efforts to help support the UK’s grassroots music scene, with £1 ticket from every ticket sold will be given to Music Venue Trust (MVT) – providing security for local music venues and emerging talent.
The hefty sum that the ‘Lifetimes’ tour has already brought is shared amid a tough year for the pop star, who received tepid reviews of her latest album ‘143’, saw a run of technical issues while on stage, and sparked controversy with her trip into space this spring.

One of the main singles from the album, ‘Woman’s World’, triggered backlash when it was shared last year, with many finding the video catered to the male gaze rather than challenging it, and feeling disappointed over the involvement of Dr. Luke. Later, she was then fined over £5,000 for filming the music video for the ‘Lifetimes’ single in a protected area of Spain without permission.
When she headed out on tour, fans were divided again, as she faced multiple occasions where props malfunctioned, experienced a fan fainting on stage, and faced harsh criticism from some online over the choreography involved.
Before then, she faced intense scrutiny after being a part of a highly criticised space flight earlier in April, where she was one member of the first all-female space mission in history.
The trip sparked memes and controversy, and she has also garnered criticism from other celebrities for taking the space flight. Actor Olivia Munn, for example, branded Perry “gluttonous”, Emily Ratajkowski said she was similarly “disgusted” by the space flight and Lily Allen called the mission “out of touch”, saying there was “no fucking reason” for it.
Allen has since walked back her comments, saying that “there was actually no need for me to bring her name into it” and that the comments stemmed from “my own internalised misogyny.”
Earlier this year, Perry shared a lengthy response to the backlash she has faced lately. “Please know I am ok, I have done a lot work around knowing who I am, what is real and what is important to me,” she shared.
“My therapist said something years ago that has been a game changer, “no one can make you believe something about yourself that you don’t already believe about yourself” and if I ever do have any feelings about it then it’s an opportunity to investigate the feeling underneath it.”
