How To Upgrade Arc Raiders Weapons And Workbenches

Weapons are the main line of defense between you and any enemy you come across in Arc Raiders. While you have some secondary equipment and even your teammates to help you survive, it’s the weapons that you take with you into every drop that will largely determine if you extract unscathed or not. For that reason, you’ll need to know how to upgrade your weapons in Arc Raiders early and often.

At the start of your Arc Raiders account, you have very little to work with in the way of weapons. You’ll be able to take a free loadout into drops, but beyond that, it’s up to you to find more weapons and then upgrade them to become even more powerful. Upgrading your weapons isn’t so simple, though, as you need resources and a stronger workbench. Below, we’ll show you how to upgrade your weapons workbench in Arc Raiders so you can then use it to get upgraded and stronger weapons, which acts as one of our many Arc Raiders tips to offer.

Unlocking the Gunsmith in Arc Raiders

When you begin Arc Raiders, you won’t have any access to the weapons workbench, which is called the “Gunsmith” in-game. Fortunately, it won’t take you too long to unlock it, as it’s one of the core elements of your account.

All you have to do to unlock the Gunsmith is acquire these resources:

  • x20 Rubber Parts
  • x20 Metal Parts

You can easily obtain these resources by looting in your first couple of drops, but you also get them for completing some of the tutorial quests in Arc Raiders. If you don’t see any Rubber or Metal Parts in your inventory, make sure you’re recycling all the junk you have. Breaking down objects can easily yield the number of Rubber and Metal Parts you need. Specifically, look for ARC technology and scrap gear, like parachutes, to break down so you get the resources.

Once you have enough Rubber and Metal Parts, head into your Workshop at the main lobby. Here, you can click “Install” to craft the “Gunsmith I” station. The Workshop also allows you to craft several other stations, so make sure you keep those in mind when you’re scavenging for resources.

With the Gunsmith I station installed, you’re ready to start upgrading your weapons in Arc Raiders.

Upgrading weapons and the Gunsmith in Arc Raiders

To upgrade a weapon via the Gunsmith, click on its station inside your Workshop. You’ll see a few different tabs at the top of your screen, and one of them is labeled “Weapon Upgrades.” In the Weapon Upgrades tab, you’ll get a view of every weapon that can currently be upgraded.

It’s important to note that to upgrade weapons further, you’ll need to upgrade your Gunsmith. Starting out, it will be labeled as “Gunsmith I,” which means it’s at level one. You can level up your Gunsmith by going to the “Level Up” tab inside its menu. Here, you can see all of the required resources you need to advance the station to its next level. If you have the required resources, select “Level Up” and your Gunsmith will be upgraded.

Back to upgrading individual weapons, it works roughly the same as upgrading the Gunsmith. You can select a weapon from the Weapon Upgrades menu, see the required resources needed to upgrade it, and then choose to upgrade the weapon if you have everything you need.

If you’re opting to upgrade a higher rarity weapon, like a purple or yellow weapon, then you’ll need far rarer resources when upgrading it. Even if the weapons are at level one, they will require resources that match the rarity of the weapon’s color. This is a massive investment, especially considering how difficult it can be to obtain those weapons in the first place. As such, it’s highly recommended to only upgrade and equip higher rarity weapons on important drops or when you have a full team that’s ready to get your back. There’s nothing worse than losing an extremely rare weapon due to accidentally having it equipped, or when you drop in solo and end up dying.

Every time you successfully upgrade a weapon, it will move up a level. With every new level, a weapon will receive increased stats with no downsides. So there’s really no reason not to upgrade weapons unless you’re holding onto specific resources that you need for something else in Arc Raiders. However, given how much of a difference an upgraded weapon can make, it’s wise to prioritize stronger weapons over most other upgrades.
