The most recent update in GTA Online has introduced zombies into Los Santos. There’s a new playlist available on the map called Cayo Perico Zombie Survival, and if you choose to boot up the playlist, you’ll face hordes of the undead all across the map. There’s a huge variety of different zombie enemies to mow your way through as you try and reach your final destination to safely extract from the now-overrun Los Santos.

How to start Cayo Perico Zombie Survival in GTA Online
Let’s first go over how you can begin playing the new Cayo Perico Zombie Survival mode. The primary way to boot up a session of the mode is to head down to the pink palm tree icon at the very southern point of Los Santos. This is near the loading docks that border the ocean. The icon is labeled “Cayo Perico Series.”
Here, you can join a session of Cayo Perico Survival (it won’t say “Zombies”, but don’t worry, it’s still the undead mode). You can either choose to play in a party of up to four players or embark on the mission solo. Whichever party size you pick, you can then specify your starting weapon, equip ammunition and armor, and select the radio station you wish to listen to during the mission.
Once all of that is set, you can begin the mode, and you’ll be dropped into the undead version of Los Santos. With your starting weapon, you need to continually kill zombies as you make your way to the airstrip, which is where your extraction plane is waiting for you.
Cayo Perico Zombie Survival is completed in waves, and the longer you survive, the higher wave you’ll reach. However, with each new wave, tougher zombies will appear in higher numbers, so you have to be prepared for the challenge.
How to earn free rewards in Cayo Perico Zombie Survival
While the new zombie mode is fun to play by itself, you can also cash in on some free rewards for playing it in GTA Online.
For starters, every player who boots up a session and plays Cayo Perico Zombie Survival will earn a free t-shirt. Even if you don’t last beyond wave one, you’ll still receive the t-shirt for your character. The t-shirt simply says “Cayo Perico” in bold red text. You’ll receive the t-shirt within 72 hours of first playing the mode.
However, if you can manage to survive all 10 waves and successfully extract in Cayo Perico Zombie Survival, you’ll earn much better rewards. Completing all 10 waves rewards you with The Buccaneer Outfit as well as $100,000 in GTA Online. You need to do this by September 10, however. After September 10, the completionist rewards will no longer be available to earn.
Finally, any player who logs into GTA Online during the weeks of 9/1 or 9/8 will receive the free Panther Tour Jacket. You don’t have to play Cayo Perico Zombie Survival to earn the jacket; simply logging in and playing will do the trick.
