In Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, the clan you choose from the list of the best classes determines which abilities you get access to first in the game. But, you can still gain access to the abilities from other clans, you will just need far more ability points, and an additional currency from Blood Resonance activities, but there is a way to reduce the cost. You can reduce the cost of these abilities by gaining Clan Affinity by doing side quests for each clan.
Clan Affinity is not tracked in-game visibly. Instead, you’ll only know you hit a new milestone when the ability cost lowers and is labeled with “Clan Affinity.” Once you gain access to the Clan Affinity system, you will typically be able to do one side quest for each contact, except for the ones based on collectibles, like Fletcher with the Ventrue clan.
How to gain clan affinity
After becoming the new Sheriff of Seattle, you will gain access to all of the clan representatives.
There are six total:
- Silky, the Brujah contact located at The Dutchman
- Patience, the Toreador contact located at Aurora Pawn
- Niko, the Banu Haqim contact located at Aurora Pawn
- Mrs. Thorn, the Tremere contact located at Wake the Dead
- Fletcher, the Ventrue contact located at Makom Bar
- Onda, the Lasombra contact located at Glacier Hotel

Of the six, three of them will give you side quests to complete in order to gain Clan Affinity. You will typically get one quest from Niko, Mrs. Thorn, and Onda each night, at which point you will need to progress the main story in order to progress to the next night. Patience, Silky, and Fletcher, all require you to bring them collectibles in order to progress. Patience requires Crosses, with nine total found in the game, while Fletcher requires you to take down hidden Anarch Graffiti, which can be found with Vampire sense and pulled down with telekinesis.
Silky’s side quest, taking out security camera collectibles around the city, becomes available much later than the rest of the quests. A quest marker will notify you when this is available, which happens once you reach the main quest “We Don’t Do Ghost Stories.”
You cannot turn in any of the collectibles until you have all of them, although it appears that you gain Clan Affinity with each one found.

Once you have gained enough Clan Affinity, the abilities of that clan will have the required number of skill points lowered, with a small note indicating this is due to Clan Affinity. There is no other way to see how you are progressing. Importantly, you can do side quests for the representative of your chosen clan, but you cannot benefit from reduced ability cost for your chosen clan.
