With the launch of Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate comes many changes. There’s the new Portal system, a new location to explore, and plenty of new Exotics. One of those is the Graviton Spike; a 150 RPM hand cannon with two firing modes. Its Arc mode has an impressively fast firing rate, while its Stasis mode is slower but hits harder.
When the weapon is overcharged, each mode uses a portion of that overcharge to inflict additional effects on final blows or precision hits. Its Arc mode will call down a lightning strike, while rounds fired from the Stasis mode explode and form crystals which can be shattered for additional damage. To switch between the two, use the the weapon’s intrinsic Temporal Manipulation IV perk.
How to get Graviton Spike
First, you’ll need to complete the full The Edge of Fate campaign and ensure your Rosetta ability is level 3. After doing so, an Exotic quest called Graviton Through the Ages will open up. Finishing the campaign on either Legendary or Normal difficulty will make the Exotic quest appear.
To start the quest, go to the Altar of Relativity on Kepler. After collecting the quest, you’ll need to speak to Lodi and The Emeritus in the Caldera social hub on Kepler. They’ll tell you to use the Rosetta device, which is also needed to open chests that require an in-depth knowledge of an unfamiliar language, and take it to the Outer Wastes.

When you reach the area you need to look for the Aionian Command Module on the left, which will prompt you to input a fluent Aionian Command. It’ll be locked until you defeat a Rosetta Sentry roaming nearby. After defeating it, activate the command module.
Follow the directional markers to a search area, where you’ll need to activate Matterspark and search for the charging portals in the area. They’re indicated by markers, but the first one is near a small cliff at the starting area. This one will activate a launch portal next to it, which will send you flying towards the next portal. Follow the route while using Matterspark and charge the portals along the way. When all three are activated, you’ll see a small room. Inside a pile of materials you can interact to collect the first Graviton Spike weapon piece. Return to The Emeritus to find out where to go next.

You’ll then head to The Gorge to seek out the next Aionian Command Module. You can get here quickly by fast traveling to the Assimilated Easement waypoint. Again, defeat the Rosetta Sentry and activate the command module. The next puzzle requires using Mattermorph and Matterspark. You’ll see a Mattermorph node along the waypoint path. To solve this puzzle follow these steps:
- Use Matterspark to reach and enter the portal to the left of the area
- Turn left on the other side and go into the cave
- Enter the narrow pathway and turn left when available
- Use Mattermorph to unlock the sealed passageway
After the barrier is lifted, you can search another pile of materials for the second Graviton Spike weapon piece.
You’ll then need to return to Lodi, who tells you to head to Exile’s Accord to triangulate the third location. Again, you’ll need to defeat a Rosetta Sentry before activating the panel. When you arrive in Exile’s Accord, it may appear like you need to go through the train, but don’t do this–look right instead to find a Matterspark portal.
After activating the panel, head back to the train’s location and go through the train tunnel. At the end of the hallway you can search the pile of materials for the third Graviton Spike weapon piece.

Return to The Emeritus again, who will ask you to collect Vex Data Fragments. Simply killing Vex enemies will give you data, but any enemies with a yellow health bar will give greater amounts. You need to collect 100 Vex Data Fragments in total. After collecting those, you can fast travel to the Aionian Campus where you’ll find another command module to activate.

You’ll move forward into a zone which requires some more puzzle solving. In the left corner there is a Mattermorph node inside a tube. Activate this and return to the center of the area, where you’ll see a container hung from a crane. Use the Mattermorph ability on the container to open it. Inside it you can pick up the Relocator.
Drop down and shoot the Relocator through a gap in a slightly open door. Step into the teleporter on the right to go through the gap. Interact with the pile of materials in front of you to collect the final Graviton Spike weapon piece.

Return to speak with Lodi again, who will send you to complete the Sieve activity. This is a limited-time event that only appears periodically on Kepler. If it’s not showing up yet, it will do soon, but The Sieve will also have a countdown to the next start time if you can see it, although given the strange occurrences with time on Kepler, this isn’t always accurate. When it does show up, you can launch it in the Caldera hub. Complete this activity and you’ll be rewarded with the Graviton Spike hand cannon.
