Gen V came to a bloody climax in the season two finale, but it also teed up events for the fifth and final season of The Boys.
Created by Craig Rosenberg, Evan Goldberg and Eric Kripke, the spin-off follows a group of young adult “supes” enlisted at the Godolkin University School Of Crimefighting, who are all competing for a chance to join The Seven.

The show’s cast includes Jaz Sinclair, Lizze Broadway, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Asa Germann, Sean Patrick Thomas and Hamish Linklater.
Chance Perdomo, who played Andre Anderson in Gen V’s first season, died in a motorcyle accident prior to filming of season two.
What happens at the end of Gen V season 2?

After Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair) killed the university’s revived founder Thomas Godolkin (Ethan Slater) by exploding his head, Marie and her crew flee the school and are now hiding out from Vought International, run by Homelander (Antony Starr).
In the episode’s closing moments, Annie aka Starlight (Erin Moriarty) descends from the sky and asks the teens to join the resistance against Homelander. After some hesitation, they jokingly agree to a “merger” between the two factions, just as Franklin aka A-Train (Jessie T. Usher) turns up to bring them into the fold.
Why is Marie relevant to The Boys season 5?
Recommended
In Gen V season two, we discover Marie and Homelander are the only survivors of Project Odessa, an experimental Vought International program run by Thomas Godolkin to create god-like superheroes using V-One. In other words, both Marie and Homelander are the most powerful supes in The Boys universe.
What relevance this will have in the final season of The Boys remains to be seen, but it sounds like Marie could be a secret weapon on the side of the resistance.
What have the creators said about Gen V’s connection to The Boys season 5?

Despite Marie’s importance in Gen V, The Boys executive producer Eric Kripke has said she won’t suddenly become a key focus in the main show.
“I don’t think Marie is going to suddenly be the main character of The Boys,” Kripke told Entertainment Weekly. “You should still be able to watch The Boys without seeing Gen V and have it all be satisfying and entertaining, but she does provide crucial assists.”
As for what the storyline looks like, Kripke added: “There’s this active underground resistance led by Annie and A-Train to mount a real pushback against Homelander and Homelander’s government. It’s sort of Homelander’s world and they’re living in it, but there’s like a French Resistance, as it were. So [Marie will] be important.”
Amazon has not announced a specific release date for The Boys season five, but it is set to premiere sometime next year.
