The 1.0 version of Hades 2 is here, along with an assortment of questions and vague pointers about how to actually finish the story. Whether you’re jumping into the game for the first time or after being caught up with the story available during Early Access, the path to seeing the resolution of the story and hitting the credits is far from clear.
From the number of runs that you need to tackle to finish the Hades 2 main story to new materials needed for important incantations, there’s a lot to dissect. If you’re wondering how to complete the Dissolution of Time and Disintegration of Monstrosity incantations, as well as how to get Entropy, we have all the answers below.
How Many Runs Do You Need to Do to Finish Hades 2?
One of the first questions that might come to mind, especially if you were all caught up with the Early Access content ahead of the 1.0 release, is how many runs you need to do in order to finish Hades 2.
Well, the answer is around 12 runs total. This is comprised of seven runs in the underworld (Chronos runs) and about five on the surface (Typhon runs). The order is indistinct, but I recommend starting with Chronos runs. These are faster to tackle, and you’ll hit a clear obstacle, which leads nicely to pivoting to Typhon runs.
As somebody who was up to date with the story available in Early Access before release, here’s how it went for me: Completing a Chronos run once unlocked the Dissolution of Time incantation. From there, I proceeded to do four more runs (the reason why is explained below), which is when I hit a wall. The characters you encounter during these story sections will be fairly blunt about it, so don’t worry about missing it. If anything, just do five Chronos runs, and then switch over to Typhon runs.
What is the Unknown Item of Dissolution of Time?
After completing at least one Chronos run in the 1.0 version of Hades 2, you’ll gain access to the Dissolution of Time incantation. Its requirements are five Z-Sand, the item you get for defeating Chronos, and an “unknown” material.
The “unknown” material is called Entropy. As you’re doing runs, don’t worry about having it as “unknown,” as it will eventually unveil itself when you gain access to a second incantation, called Disintegration of Monstrosity. As you’ve probably guessed, one is related to Chronos, and the other is related to Typhon.
These incantations are intertwined, but as long as you do five runs of Chronos and then four runs of Typhon in order to get the materials needed, you’ll progress through them without many hurdles. Remember to always speak to Hecate and other NPCs of note at the Crossroads to move conversations forward.
How to Get Entropy to Complete the Dissolution of Time Incantation
As mentioned above, both Dissolution of Time and Disintegration of Monstrosity are intertwined. In order to get Entropy and complete the first incantation, you’ll have to make progress in its counterpart. By now, we’re assuming that you have the gist of what you need to do, so we’ll talk about spoilers freely.
In short, to get Entropy in Hades 2, you need to complete Disintegration of Monstrosity first. Defeating Typhon will grant you the item, which in turn will allow you to defeat Chronos properly.
If you want a breakdown of how the endgame of Hades 2 works, here are the steps in full:
- Complete five Chronos runs, up to the point where Zagreus and Melinoë talk about the weapon needed to defeat Chronos. During this time, make sure to always speak to Hecate at the Crossroads when available.
- Once you have access to Disintegration of Monstrosity, you’ll need one Z-Sand from defeating Chronos, four V-Lens from defeating Typhon, and Gigaros, which is obtained by progressing through Dissolution of Time until Zagreus leaves the weapon next to the bed.
- After you complete the incantation, you’ll have to do one more Typhon run. Toward the second half of the fight, Melinoë will interrupt the encounter and use Gigaros to kill him. Alongside the usual V-Lens, you’ll also gain Entropy.
- Once you’re back at the Crossroads, complete the Dissolution of Time incantation. Then, proceed to do one more Chronos run to finish the main story.
- Hades 2 is a roguelite–in a similar fashion to the first game, you can continue playing after the credits. As such, feel free to go ahead with the final Chronos run before getting to the epilogue.
