The red Gibson ES-355 guitar was broken backstage at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris in August 2009, where the band notoriously cancelled their set at the last minute after Noel abruptly left the band.

It’s estimated to fetch up to £500,000 at the Propstore Music Memorabilia auction, which will commence on October 24 and 25.

The guitar was previously sold at auction in 2021 for £325,000. Noel reportedly parted with it then as “it [reminded] him too much of Oasis”, according to The Guardian.

At the time of the split, Noel shared a statement on Oasisinet.com that read: “It’s with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight. People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with [singer, his brother] Liam a day longer.”

The band had pulled out of the Paris show just before they were due on stage, with organisers allegedly displaying a message explaining an “altercation” had caused the cancellation. It was claimed that the Gallagher brothers were involved in a fight with each other minutes before they were due to go on stage.

Oasis’ final show was held on August 22, 2009 at the now defunct V Festival at Weston Park and the band performed a hit-filled set that included ‘Cigarettes & Alcohol’, ‘Half The World Away’ and an acoustic cover of ‘Wonderwall’.

Noel Gallagher’s Takamine FP460SC acoustic guitar, which was used to record ‘Wonderwall’, is also being sold alongside about 150 Oasis items as part of the Propstore auction.

The wider auction includes John Lennon’s “lost weekend”-period tinted glasses, estimated to fetch £300,000, and Michael Jackson’s ‘Smooth Criminal’ white fedora, expected to bring in a potential £80,000.

Currently, Oasis are on their reunion tour, and are set to play in London this Saturday and Sunday (September 27, 28). The two gigs follow an initial five-night run at Wembley Stadium over the summer as part of Oasis’ UK and Ireland comeback tour.

They concluded the North American leg of their Live ’25 trek with two huge concerts in Mexico City earlier this month. Their Wembley performances this week come ahead of further dates in South America, Australia, South Korea and Japan.

Oasis have released some official live versions of tracks from different cities on the trek. So far we’ve had ‘Slide Away’ from Cardiff, ‘Cigarettes & Alcohol’ from Manchester, ‘Little By Little’ from London, ‘Bring It On Down’ from Edinburgh and ‘Wonderwall’ from Dublin.

NME gave the opening night of Live ’25 in Cardiff a glowing five-star review. “After a ‘90s heyday and an often maligned post-millennium era, this is Oasis redesigned for the 21st Century,” it read.

“Playing before a pop-art-meets-psychedelia visual spectacular that never distracts but will look sick on a phone, they seem the quintessential stadium band playing the greatest hits of greatest hits.”

The band also recently shared an “unplugged” version of ‘Morning Glory’ from the 30th anniversary reissue of their second album.
