‘Grand Theft Auto 6’ becomes most-viewed trailer ever

Grand Theft Auto 6’s ‘Trailer One’ has overtaken Avengers: Infinity War to become the most-viewed trailer in YouTube history.

Released in December 2023, Trailer One confirmed the long-awaited follow-up to 2013’s Grand Theft Auto 5 and gave fans a glimpse at the updated Vice City. The 90-second clip was soundtracked by Tom Petty’s ‘Love Is A Long Road’, which saw a huge boost in streaming numbers.

The Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer quickly became the most-liked game trailer on X and broke a YouTube record for most views for a non-music video in 24 hours.

Now, almost two years later, Grand Theft Auto 6’s first teaser has become the most-viewed trailer in Youtube history, overtaking Avengers: Infinity War. GTA 6’s Trailer One currently has more than 268million views compared to Infinity War’s 267million.

It comes one week after Grand Theft Auto 6 was delayed for the second time. The game had originally been due to launch “late 2025” but was pushed back to May 26, 2026 so Rockstar Games could “polish” the game. In a short statement shared on Thursday (November 6), developers wrote: “We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.” It will now launch November 19, 2026.

Following the announcement, some fans have speculated that Grand Theft Auto 6 won’t actually be released until 2027. Strauss Zelnick, boss of GTA publishers Take Two, has said he’s “highly confident” in the November release date, but he was equally confident that the game wouldn’t be delayed beyond May 2026. Other fans are convinced a third trailer will drop this month.
