So, to honour October 21 – recognised as Back To The Future Day because of its importance in the film’s sequel – Gibson has launched a range of special guitars, apparel and accessories.

The Back To The Future 1955 ES-345 Collector’s Edition from Gibson Custom in Cherry Red is limited to just 88 guitars globally – a nod to the DeLorean time machine in the film needing to accelerate to 88 miles per hour – and has exclusive design details. It costs $19,999 (almost £15,000).

Among the other items are t-shirts, hats, plectrum tins, a guitar strap and an AXE HEAVEN mini guitar.

A video from Epiphone showcases the guitar, includes footage of Fox playing the ES-345 during the movie’s ‘Enchantment Under The Sea’ dance scene, and finishes with a spin on one of the film’s most famous lines: “I guess you guys are ready for this, and your kids are going to love it.

“Bringing this guitar to life has been a passion project for many years, and it’s incredibly exciting to finally see it become a reality,” says Mark Agnesi, Director of Brand Experience at Gibson. “We couldn’t be prouder of how these guitars turned out—they’re truly special. This is the guitar that inspired me, and countless others from my generation, to pick up playing in the first place.”

Fans can head to the Gibson Garage Nashville and London locations to see the collection in person, and view them all online at Gibson’s website.

In the summer, Gibson and Fox teamed up to launch a Lost To The Future search for the original guitar that the latter played in the movie. The guitar’s location is still unknown, but the search has been narrowed, and Gibson is pursuing a number of leads. Fans can still submit tips at the Lost To The Future website.

Also today (October 21), meanwhile, Apple TV announced that season three of its comedy-drama Shrinking – which is set to feature Fox as a guest star – will return on January 28, 2026.
