Frankie Muniz has shared a behind-the-scenes look at the new Malcolm In The Middle spinoff series.
Last year, it was confirmed that the beloved sitcom – which ran for seven seasons on Fox from 2000 to 2006 – was returning for a new four-episode run with Disney+.
Muniz is returning as the title character, the gifted middle son who navigates life with his eccentric family, with Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek also set to reprise their roles as his parents and Christopher Masterson and Justin Berfield returning as his brothers Francis and Reese.
On Thursday (October 23), Muniz shared a photograph of the three on-screen brothers together on the set of the reboot. “I was told not to post this yet,” he wrote on X. “But then I remembered the theme song. I’m just too excited for y’all to see the new episodes and I miss my brothers.”

The Malcolm In The Middle theme song is ‘Boss Of Me’ by They Might Be Giants, with its recurring motif of “you’re not the boss of me now”. The song was written specifically for the show and won a Grammy in 2002 for Best Song Written for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media.
The spinoff will be titled Malcolm In The Middle: Life’s Still Unfair and it comes from Linwood Boomer, the creator of the original show. The four episodes are expected to arrive in 2026, although no release date has been announced.

Last month, Muniz described the shoot as “the best time of my entire life”. He told the Lightweights podcast: “I’m not exaggerating when I say filming this reboot, like I loved it so much, way more than I ever thought I could have.”
One actor that will not be returning is Erik Per Sullivan, who played the youngest brother Dewey, who opted to continue his Masters studies at Harvard instead of filming the new episodes.
Malcolm is said to now be a father in the show, confirmed by an official logline for the episodes that read: “Malcolm and his daughter are drawn into the family’s chaos when Hal and Lois demand his presence for their 40th wedding anniversary party”.
