First Switch 2 game confirms Nintendo Music streaming release

The first Nintendo Switch 2 soundtrack has been confirmed for the Nintendo Music streaming platform.

The Nintendo Music app launched last year, letting gamers listen to soundtracks from a number of its iconic games, curate their own playlists and create 60-minute loops of their favourite tracks. The streaming platform had 23 soundtracks at launch and Nintendo has been adding new albums every week since.

Recent additions include Mario Kart 64, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Mario Paint and The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time

Despite the Nintendo Switch 2 launching back in June, none of the soundtracks for the console’s exclusive games have been made available to stream via Nintendo Music. However that is set to change today (August 19) with the surprise addition of the Kirby Air Riders soundtrack. The news came via the Nintendo News app which referred to it as a “special release”. The calendar event was swiftly removed but not before the announcement was shared on social media by fans.

Kirby Air Riders is a sequel to 2003 racing spin-off Kirby Air Ride. The Nintendo Switch 2 game doesn’t currently have a release date but a 45-minute Direct is scheduled to take place later today which will reveal more about the title.

Kirby Air Riders joining Nintendo Music has given fans hope that the beloved soundtracks for Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza will be added sooner rather than later. Both soundtracks feature remixed versions of iconic songs alongside some brilliant new additions to the long-running franchises.

“No idea why they haven’t released the Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza OSTs on Nintendo music. Having them at release is entirely possible and would let them ‘beat’ fans just downloading them online,” wrote one annoyed fan.

In other news, controversial animal rights organisation PETA has demanded that Nintendo change the appearance of fan-favourite Mario Kart World character Cow.
