Fans have been reacting to the “incredible” and “wildly entertaining” climax to the first season of The Celebrity Traitors.
The final episode of the show aired on BBC One last night (Thursday November 6), with comedian Alan Carr claiming victory after going undetected as a ‘traitor’ in the show’s highly dramatic endgame.
After singer Cat Burns, another traitor, was banished in the final roundtable, and former rugby player Joe Marley was wrongly identified as a traitor and also banished, Carr was able to convince historian David Olusoga and Ted Lasso star Nick Mohammed that he was a ‘faithful’ and they all agreed to end the game.
Immediately afterwards, Carr revealed that he had been a traitor all along and consequently won the entire prize pot of £87,500, which he said would go to children’s cancer charity Neuroblastoma UK.
Carr burst into tears as he made the revelation, with Olusoga and Mohammed comforting him, and it didn’t take long for social media to light up with reactions to the finale.

Ahead of the broadcast of the final episode last night, fans were warned to avoid social media as the show had been leaked online 24 hours early by a Canadian streaming platform.
The show has been a major ratings success for the BBC, with an average of 12.6million viewers watching the early episodes of the season.
Last week, Carr quipped that he’s no longer friends with Paloma Faith after ‘murdering’ her on the show, and fellow finalist Cat Burns released the mellow new single ‘Please Don’t Hate Me’ while taking part in the series.
Nick Mohammed has also opened up about the behind-the-scenes restrictions that come with being a contestant, including having “all your devices taken from you”, only being allowed “one phone conversation a day” with immediate family, and not even being told what time it is by crew members.
