Over 40 years after the original cult classic, Peter Dinklage leads a reboot of The Toxic Avenger.
Directed by Macon Blair, the black comedy splatter film follows janitor Winston Gooze who, after a freak accident, transforms into a mutant vigilante known as Toxie. With his mop in tow, the unlikely hero takes on gangsters and corrupt CEOs while trying to salvage his relationship with his son.
Other cast members include Jacob Tremblay, Taylour Paige, Kevin Bacon, Elijah Wood, Sarah Niles, Julia Davis, Julian Kostov, David Yow and Jonny Coyne.
This is technically the fifth film in The Toxic Avenger franchise, which began with the 1984 film of the same name by Michael Herz. The fourth instalment in the series, 2000’s Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger IV, served as a direct sequel to the original.
Who composed the soundtrack for The Toxic Avenger?
The film’s score is by brothers Will Blair and Brooke Blair, who previously worked together on Rebel Ridge, 2019’s Black Christmas and Macon Blair’s directorial debut I Don’t Feel At Home In This World Anymore.
What other songs feature on the soundtrack?
Beyond the score, the film features several songs performed by other artists, although not all of them are real. Several tracks come from the fictional bands The Killer Nutz and The Whoopsie Dews, which were written by Will and Brooke Blair.

The composer duo’s old band, East Hundred, created a new song for the soundtrack as well titled ‘Juntos’, which features singer Beril Guceri.
The other licensed song on the soundtrack is ‘Nothing At All’ by The Giraffes. The band’s guitarist, Damien Paris, also contributed some guitar solos across the score.
