Slow Horses is back on Apple TV+ for season five, but what songs are included in the new episodes? Read on to find out.
The show is based on the Slough House series of novels by Mick Herron and revolves around a group of British intelligence officers who have been demoted after having made significant mistakes. Gary Oldman stars as Jackson Lamb, the head of Slough House, alongside Kristin Scott Thomas, Jack Lowden and Jonathan Pryce.
The fifth season was greenlit in January 2024 and the episodes are based on Herron’s fifth book in the series, London Rules. “In season 5 of Slow Horses, everyone is suspicious when resident tech nerd Roddy Ho has a glamorous new girlfriend, but when a series of increasingly bizarre events occur across the city, it falls to the Slow Horses to work out how everything is connected,” a synopsis reads.
“After all, Jackson Lamb knows that in the world of espionage, ‘London Rules’ should always apply.”
The first episode is available to stream as of September 24, with the five remaining episodes arriving on a weekly basis until the season finale on October 29.
Slow Horses has already been commissioned for a sixth season by Apple TV+, with the streamer’s creative director Jay Hunt saying last year: “Audiences around the world have fallen in love with the Slow Horses, and I’m delighted that Gary Oldman will be leading this star-studded cast on another acerbic and action-packed adventure.”

Season four was named as one of NME’s 20 best TV shows of 2024, who noted: “Gary Oldman was yet again a delight to watch as grumpy spy-boss Jackson Lamb (his insults still as brilliantly scathing as ever) while the addition of new character Moira Tregorian (Joanna Scanlan), brought some colourful comedic moments – especially with Lamb. As ever, the show still didn’t shy away from character deaths: we had two unexpected, violent losses. Can season five possibly top this? You wouldn’t bet against it.”

As with previous seasons, the theme song to the new episodes is ‘Strange Game’ by Mick Jagger, while there is an original score from Daniel Pemberton, known for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Eddington and Materialists.
In addition, the new season includes a number of needle drop moments. In the opening episode, these consisted of:
