Jennifer Lopez’s new musical film Kiss Of The Spider Woman is in US cinemas now, but what songs are included? Find out below.
The movie is based on the 1976 novel by Manuel Puig and the subsequent stage musical written by Terrence McNally, which featured original songs by John Kander and Fredd Ebb, the songwriting powerhouses behind Cabaret and Chicago.
It is set in Argentina during the period of political oppression known as the ‘Dirty War’ and stars Diego Luna (Andor, Y Tu Mama Tambien) as Valentin, a political prisoner who shares a jail cell with Molina, played by Tonatiuh (Promised Land).
Molina entertains Valentin by telling him the plot of a vintage Hollywood musical starring his favourite screen icon, Ingrid Luna (Lopez).
The film is directed by Bill Condon, known for his work on big screen adaptations of stage musicals, including Dreamgirls, which he directed, and Chicago and The Greatest Showman, which he wrote.
Kiss Of The Spider Woman premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January and was released in US cinemas on Friday (October 10) by Lionsgate. No UK release date has been announced.

The new film includes an original score from Sam Davis, who had worked as a dance music arranger on the 2017 version of Beauty And The Beast and 2023’s Wonka.
It also includes the original Kander and Ebb songs from the 1992 stage musical, with Lopez recording and performing many of them herself.
The songs were compiled onto an official soundtrack album that was released on October 3 via Lakeshore Records, with Lopez’s rendition of ‘Kiss Of The Spider Woman’ and Tonatiuh’s ‘She’s A Woman’ having been released as singles.
