Every song on the ‘Eddington’ soundtrack

Ari Aster’s provocative new black comedy thriller Eddington is in cinemas now, but what songs are on the soundtrack? Find out below.

The director, known for his cult horror films Hereditary and Midsommar, has written and directed the new movie, which explores the social turmoil in the New Mexico town of Eddington in 2020 when COVID-19 social distancing threatens to divide a tight-knit community.

Joaquin Phoenix plays conservative sheriff Joe Cross, who launches a bid to become Eddington’s mayor by unseating the liberal incumbent Ted Garcia (Pedro Pascal). Emma Stone’s Louise is Joe’s emotionally unavailable wife, while Austin Butler plays Veron Jefferson Peak, a cult leader with a significant online following.

The film premiered at Cannes in May and was released by A24 in the US in July. It arives in UK cinemas on Friday (August 22), and you can watch the trailer here:

Eddington is the second collaboration between Aster and Phoenix, after 2023’s sprawling Beau Is Afraid, a deeply surreal black comedy in which Phoenix played a middle-aged man desperately trying to overcome extreme anxiety and paranoia while travelling to his recently deceased mother’s house.

Eddington includes an originaly score from Daniel Pemberton, known for Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, Steve Jobs and Materialists, and Bobby Krlic, formerly known as The Haxan Cloak, who also worked on Midsommar and Beau Is Afraid.
