‘Elden Ring: Nightreign’ to get ultra-hard mode

Elden Ring: Nightreign dataminers have unearthed a new ultra-hard mode that could be coming to the spin-off in the near future.

Elden Ring: Nightreign challenges players to survive for two nights in the cursed land of Limveld, with a fiendishly difficult boss to slay at the end of each day.

The spin-off launched at the end of May 2025 and a few days later, developers FromSoftware confirmed it would be making things easier for solo players after complaints. Following backlash to the three-person co-op game mode, FromSoftware also released a duos mode earlier this month.

To keep things challenging, limited-time Everdark Sovereign bosses were introduced in June which are tougher, meaner and more dangerous versions of the eight Nightlord bosses that are available in Elden Ring: Nightreign

According to dataminers, a new dungeon game mode called ‘Deep Of Night’ could also be on the way. Sharing their findings on Reddit, the new endless mode will reportedly have players facing a randomly-chosen boss. If they win, they face a more difficult boss. According to the description of ‘Deep Of Night’, “the boundless dark stretches out unto infinity,” which means you’ll keep playing until you’re defeated.

The ‘Deep Of Night’ mode will also have player rankings which will determine which “depth” you play in and who you can team up with.  “When you reach certain rating thresholds, your ‘depth’ will increase. If you continually lose rating, your ‘depth’ will be reduced, but once you have reached Depth 2, you cannot return to Depth 1,” reads the new info. “You will be matched with players of the same ‘depth’, but the pool of eligible players will be expanded to include players with different ‘depths’ after a certain amount of time.”

‘Deep Of Night’ will also introduce new weapons, buffs, relics and “magmafied” versions of existing bosses.

“Nice, an actual rouge mode that sounds hype as hell. My guess, [this will be] released after the last Everdark and before any paid DLC,” wrote one fan on Reddit. “They’ve cooked again. How do they keep getting away with this,” said another. “This seems sick and has the potential to suck me back into the game like I was at launch,” added a third.

However, FromSoftware haven’t announced when the new ultra-hard ‘Dark Of Night’ mode will launch, or if it will even get a full public release.

In other news, a TV adaptation of Far Cry is in the works from It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia co-creator Rob Mac and Fargo creator Noah Hawley.
