Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce announced their engagement yesterday, posting a carousel of photos of them embracing in a garden. The post included a photo featuring a close-up of her engagement ring. The post was captioned: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”

The engagement was announced while US President Trump was attending a cabinet meeting, where he was asked for his reaction to the news. Trump responded, as seen in the clip below: “Well, I wish them a lot of luck. I think he’s a great player, I think he’s a great guy, and she’s a terrific person, so I wish them a lot of luck.”

Trump’s comments on the couple’s engagement comes after he launched a public beef with the ‘All Too Well’ singer last year after Swift publicly endorsed Kamala Harris in the 2024 election, when she said “we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos”.

The president then declared that he “hates” her, and suggested that Swift will “probably pay a price” for his support of Harris. In June 2024, he took a moment to comment on Swift’s appearance in the upcoming book titled Apprentice In Wonderland: How Donald Trump And Mark Burnett Took America Through The Looking Glass, calling her “unusually beautiful” and also questioned whether her political stance is “just an act”.

Earlier this year, Trump trolled her for being booed at the Super Bowl, which he said meant “the world is healing”.

Swift and Kelce have been in a relationship since 2023, with Kelce saying he “threw the ball in her court” after seeing her ‘Eras’ show at Arrowhead Stadium in July of that year. They sparked dating rumours after Swift attended a few of his Chiefs games in September, and confirmed they were together a month later.

Swift recently announced her new album ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’ earlier this month on her first-ever appearance on the New Heights sports podcast, hosted by Kelce and his brother Jason.

Meanwhile, new details about their relationship are reportedly set to be revealed in a new Kansas City Chiefs documentary. The six-part ESPN series also explores the team’s explosion in popularity since 2023, when Taylor Swift began attending Chiefs games and was romantically linked to Kelce.

In addition, Kelce recently gave an interview to GQ in which he discussed their relationship and his admiration for her epic, three-hour stage ‘Eras Tour’ shows of the last few years.
