Domino Vault launches with The Amazing Snakeheads’ ‘Amphetamine Ballads’ vinyl reissue

Domino has announced details of the first new release in the Domino Vault – a reissue of The Amazing Snakeheads’ ‘Amphetamine Ballads’.

The new vault looks to shine a spotlight on long out-of-print cult classics. It will be releasing some limited-edition represses of some of the most elusive and under-appreciated gems in its back catalogue.

A new press release shared that every forthcoming release will be carefully curated as a one-off pressing, and has been developed to give people the opportunity to discover forgotten favourites and celebrate some of the lesser-known releases from artists in its inventory.

To kick off the series, the label will be reissuing the visceral debut, ‘Amphetamine Ballads’, from The Amazing Snakeheads.

That album arrived back in 2014, when the band – formed of frontman Dale Barclay,
bassist William Coombe, and drummer Jordon Hutchinson – emerged out of Glasgow’s DIY scene and onto the national stage with their signature blend of garage punk, rockabilly charm and rock.

The new reissue from Domino Vault will see the album reshared on 180g heavyweight vinyl in a limited 200 hand-numbered run. It will be available from October 10 2025, and is available for pre-order now.

The ‘Amphetamine Ballads’ tracklist is:

Recommended

1. ‘I’m A Vampire’
2. ‘Nighttime’
3. ‘Swamp Song’
4. ‘Here It Comes Again’
5. ‘Flatlining’
6. ‘Where Is My Knife?’
7. ‘Every Guy Wants To Be Her Baby’
8. ‘Memories’
9. ‘Heading for Heartbreak’
10. ‘Tiger By The Tail’

The release remains a favourite among fans of garage punk, and was the sole release from The Amazing Snakeheads, who broke up the following year.

After their split, Barclay formed a new band called And Yet It Moves, and released an album with them in 2017 called ‘Free Pass to the Future’. The Glasgow singer died in September 2018, following a year-long battle with brain cancer.

Domino Vault will share more details about upcoming releases at a later date.
