The pop star is gearing up to release her 12th studio record, ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’ this Friday (October 3), following on from last year’s ‘The Tortured Poets Department’. The album has already broken her own Spotify record with pre-saves of over five million already.
Now, Swifties think that the musician may have left some huge clues about her upcoming release whilst playing in the city last year as part of her ‘Era’s Tour’. Swift played at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on June 18 2024.
One of the Easter eggs that fans think they have spotted was that Swift’s show at Cardiff was the 103rd show of the tour. Swift later revealed with fiancé Travis Kelce on his brother’s ‘New Heights’ podcast that the album would be released on October 3 – or 10/3 in US date order.
Swift also referred to the Cardiff show as “one for the books”, which fans think could have held some deeper significance. Swift later shared a picture of herself in front of Cardiff Bay when she was sat in a “cleaning cart” (as per BBC) that she was known to enter every gig in. Later, when on tour in Vancouver, Swift shared another picture of herself in front of Cardiff Bay – although this time it was in the form of a painting of the place.
The artist who painted the picture, Rachel Rasmussen, told the BBC that she thought Swift may have used some of the colours from her painting in the colour scheme for her new album. Significantly, Swift also appeared in Cardiff wearing orange and green in a top and skirt outfit combination that had not been worn previously on the tour. Both colours later turned out to be central to her new album artwork.
Swifties also spotted that when she later appeared in an orange dress at the same gig, the flashlight wristbands given to attendees flashed green during this segment.
Just one month before the album announcement came, the site Taylor Nation also posted a picture of Swift in an orange dress as part of a social media trend where people share pictures of themselves looking happy. That picture was taken in Cardiff.

Meanwhile, the planned cinematic release party for ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’ happening later this week recently grossed $15million (£11million) in pre-sales in just 24 hours. The film is expected to gross somewhere between $30million and $50million (£22.2million to £37million) across its three-day run (Friday October 3 to Sunday October 5).
Swift will also make a return to The Graham Norton Show on her album release day later this week. Elsewhere, approximately 500 Target branches in the US are due to open at midnight that day to sell ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’.
‘The Life Of A Showgirl’ was co-produced by Max Martin and Shellback, alongside Swift herself. The singer-songwriter has revealed the full tracklist for the album, which includes a team-up with Sabrina Carpenter on the title track.
Swift has described ‘…Showgirl’ as “the record I’ve been wanting to make for a very long time”. The LP will focus on “what was going on behind the scenes in my inner life” during the record-breaking ‘Eras Tour’.
She remembered that time as being “so exuberant and electric and vibrant”, saying: “It just comes from like the most infectiously joyful, wild, dramatic place I was in in my life.” Swift recorded the album in Sweden, in between concerts on the massive tour.
The star has insisted that there are “no other songs coming” beyond the standard edition tracklist. More recently, she talked about the “luxurious” album artwork and said fans would see “more images than we ever planned”.
“We chose this really high-gloss finish which I’ve never done before, and I think it looks so cool,” Swift added. “We wanted this album to feel really luxurious and kind of as a nod to the luxury that a showgirl puts on when she’s on stage.”
