Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Stanley Tucci, and Emily Blunt are all set to reprise their iconic roles in The Devil Wears Prada 2, which officially began production in June 2025.

Joining the original cast is Kenneth Branagh, who will reportedly portray Miranda Priestly’s husband. Streep’s character is famously inspired by Vogue’s Anna Wintour, who recently stepped down as editor-in-chief of the magazine.

Details

The first details about The Devil Wears Prada 2 sequel emerged in 2024. Sources revealed that Crazy Ex-Girlfriend co-creator Aline Brosh McKenna had been brought on to write the script. At the time, the project was in early development at Disney, with original director David Frankel and producer Wendy Finerman in discussions to return.

The sequel follows Miranda Priestly as she faces the challenges of a declining print industry. She finds herself at odds with Emily, now a powerful executive at a luxury fashion conglomerate. Emily controls the advertising dollars Miranda desperately needs to keep her magazine afloat.

There’s also potential for the film to pull inspiration from the 2013 novel Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns, which takes place nearly ten years after the original. In the book, former assistants Andy and Emily reunite as successful magazine editors—only for Miranda to reappear and upend Andy’s world once again.

Release Date

Save the date and dust off your florals — The Devil Wears Prada 2 is set to hit theaters on May 1, 2026.
