In a new interview with Eurogamer, Death Stranding composer Ludvig Forsell has spoken about the ongoing Game Of The Year debate. “Being part of that whole discussion is really interesting and fun to see.

“I think 2025 is one of the most insane years for gaming, because there are so many different types of games being held up as great games this year – many of those games being done by very small teams,” he explained, praising the “exciting” Hollow Knight: Silksong and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

“[There are] all these incredible great games that are now in discussion for Game Of The Year. It’s also a really crazy year for music and games, because all these games are also being held up because of their music,” he continued. “I’ve been super inspired by a lot of these games. Expedition 33 definitely has one of the most fun soundtracks that also emotionally carries the story and everything.”

Forsell is currently gearing up to head out on tour as part of the Death Stranding orchestral concert ‘Strands Of Harmony’ which kicks off in Sydney at the start of next month and visits London on November 16.

“It’s an honour and a privilege to be part of, and have the music of Death Stranding, reach a live audience,” said Forsell. “Death Stranding’s music stretches from intimate ballads and synthwave, all the way to climatic orchestral anthems. I can’t wait to bring this eclectic music experience to life with arrangements aimed to elevate each piece in a full orchestral setting. I also hope that we will be able to take you on a journey along with Sam Porter Bridges as the story and music evolved from the first instalment to its sequel.”

Meanwhile Clair Obscur: Expedition 33’s composer Lorien Testard recently won the Game Music trophy at the 2025 World Soundtrack Awards. Later this month, the first Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 live orchestral concerts will take place in France ahead with international dates planned for 2026.
