d4vd thanks fans and throws Labubus into crowd as coroner shares more details about murder victim found in his Tesla

d4vd has thanked fans and thrown Labubus into the crowd at a recent show, after further details were shared about the dead body found in a Tesla registered in his name.

On Monday (September 8), officers responded to a report of a foul odour coming from an impounded vehicle at a tow yard in Hollywood, Los Angeles. According to police, the car had been there for a couple of days, and the body was discovered inside a bag in the front boot.

There was initially no information about the identity of the deceased because of the level of decomposition. It has since been confirmed that the body is that of a woman (via Los Angeles Times). A recent report from the New York Post also alleged that the deceased was a woman wearing a tube top who had “Shhhh” tattooed on her finger. Authorities are still working to identify her.

The Tesla was registered in Hempstead, Texas, to d4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke.

In a statement shared yesterday (September 10), a spokesperson for Burke said he “has been informed about what’s happened, and although he is still out on tour, he is fully cooperating with the authorities”.

According to police sources, the Tesla had been towed from the Bird Streets neighbourhood in the Hollywood Hills after being abandoned five days prior.

The body of another woman was found partially burned inside a Honda Civic at a different tow yard in Los Angeles. However, this incident is said to be related to a missing person report, and is considered by police to be a separate case.

The Hollywood Hills case has been classified as a death investigation, said LAPD officer Charles Miller.

d4vd continued the aforementioned tour on Tuesday (September 9), with a show at the Fillmore Minneapolis. During the gig, he professed his love for the people of Minneapolis in an exaggerated British accent, thanked them for being present, and threw Labubus into the crowd. This is a common fixture of his live shows.

The current North American leg of his ‘Withered’ world tour began this summer, and will see further stops in Denver, Salt Lake City, Portland, Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles. D4vd is due to embark on a run of European and UK shows next month.

d4vd posted on Instagram on Monday (September 8) to announce the release of a deluxe version of his debut album ‘Withered’, titled ‘Marcescence’. He has also been active on Instagram Stories this week, sharing a photo of himself with fellow singer-songwriter Malcolm Todd.

Speaking to NME in April about the making of ‘Withered’, d4vd explained: “It was a very introspective process. I had went to London and I was like, ‘I’m gonna spend two weeks here in this sad, gloomy place’ – the vibes were just perfect for what I wanted to do and the mindset I wanted to be in.

“The title of my album, ‘Withered’, is like when a rose grows and then it decays and dies, returning back to the dirt.”

He continued: “So I wanted to use this process to grow and also to take myself back to the soil where I started. I was just thinking about my own music and all the accomplishments I had amassed, and how my creative process changed throughout the past two years, and how I could go back to that mindset and the things that made my music special and unique.”
